Dr. Min Yang is seeking 1–2 highly motivated PhD students to join her group in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia.
About the Supervisor
Dr. Min Yang is a Lecturer in Environmental Engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, QUT. She received her PhD in Environmental Engineering from Memorial University, Canada in 2024 and worked as a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow (2024–2026) at the same university. Her research focuses on organic and emerging contaminants in water environments, and the integration of AI-aided tools for contaminant control. Her research has been published in leading environmental journals, including Environmental Science & Technology, Water Research, and Journal of Hazardous Materials.
Research Interests
- Behavior and mitigation of emerging contaminants, such as microplastics and plastic additives, in natural and engineered environmental systems
- Development of digital twin frameworks to simulate contaminant behavior in coastal waters and support contaminant monitoring and control
Qualifications
- Hold, or expect to soon complete, a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field;
- Have a strong interest in environmental studies and the motivation to pursue independent PhD research;
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; and
- Meet QUT’s academic and English-language entry requirements for PhD study (https://www.qut.edu.au/research/study-with-us/how-to-apply). For applicants required to provide an IELTS (Academic) result, QUT requires a minimum overall score of 6.5, with no individual band below 6.0.
